Randy Blythe Arrested For Manslaughter, Report Claims
Lamb of God singer Randy Blythe was detained in Prague this week. He could face 5-10 years in prison for an altercation at a 2010 show that allegedly left a fan dead.
Reports indicate the incident leading to the arrest of Blythe (full name D. Randall "Randy" Blythe) involved a man repeatedly rushing the stage from the crowd.
He was ejected from the stage and later died of head injuries, according to WTVR, the CBS News affiliate in Lamb of God's hometown of Richmond, Virginia.
Lamb of God canceled a show at the Rock Cafe in Prague Thursday after the singer was brought in for questioning; reports differ as to what happened next.
Some sources say Blythe was arrested and charged with "the crime of bodily harm of 4th degree and resulting in the death of a fan." The band's rep denies this.
Randy's brother, Mark Blythe, told WTVR that if manslaughter charge is actually filed, it is "bogus and outrageous and will be dropped immediately."
The band tweeted the hashtag #FreeRandyBlythe late Thursday. Blythe deleted his once extremely active personal Twitter account earlier this summer.
Maria Ferrero, the Grammy-nominated band's publicist, told MTV News that Lamb of God's management will not comment in full until Monday. However:
"As no formal charges have yet been made and the case is only in the investigation stages, it would be premature to make an official statement filled with false truths or innuendos."
"Having said that, management wished to address today one false piece of information that has been included in many of the news stories released so far."
"Under no circumstances was there a fight of any kind involved. This incident deals with a fan that three times during the concert jumped the barricade and rushed Randy during the performance. It is alleged that the third time, security was not able to reach him and that Randy pushed him back into the audience where supposedly he fell and hit his head."
"Again, until the investigation is concluded this weekend, nothing more will be released, but clarity and the facts needed to be addressed on this one reported point which is totally inaccurate."

News</a> about the possibility of her getting personal about her relationship with Justin Bieber on the record. "It's going to be more of something that people could say, 'It could be that or it could be this or it could be that.' "Very different! I want to go for producers that probably wouldn't want me to do their songs," she said. "I just want to knock on their door. I also want to work with Fun. <P>When "The X Factor" producers announced that they were adding Britney Spears to the judges' panel, experts and viewers wondered whether she would have what it takes to sit alongside Simon Cowell and L.A. Reid to dole out advice to bright-eyed singers. But from the sounds of audio leaked to <a href="http://www.tmz.com/2012/05/24/britney-spears-x-factor-demi-lovato/">TMZ</a> from the first round of auditions, it seems that the audience thinks Spears will do just fine.</P><P>After months of speculation, <a href="/news/articles/1684813/britney-spears-x-factor-judge.jhtml">Spears was officially added to the "X Factor"</a> judges' panel in May for a cool $15 million per season. While the show doesn't premiere until September, audio leaked Thursday (May 24) from auditions in Austin, Texas, give us a taste of what we'll be in for come fall. In the clip, Spears and fellow newbie Demi Lovato give differing critiques to a young male contestant.</P><P>"I think that you have a great voice and your tone was great," 19-year-old Lovato told the contestant. "But, I don't really know where you fit. I don't know what's going to set you apart from other musicians who are boys. So, I think you just have to find out what makes you special and what separates you from all the other teenage boys in this industry."</P><P>Britney, on the other hand, had a some kinder words for the amateur singer. "I think you can be bigger than the next Justin Bieber," Spears said, eliciting a rambunctious response from the crowd.</P><P>"I feel like your runs are amazing," she added. "And I do feel like with a little more training, you could actually [inaudible] better presentation, but I see what's there. And you're very gifted. <P><b>NEW YORK</b> — If you weren't a teenage girl during the <a href="/news/articles/1687822/justin-bieber-total-request-live.jhtml">"Total Request Live"</a> era of the late '90s and early 2000s, watching <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/bieber_justin/artist.jhtml">Justin Bieber</a> take over MTV's famed Times Square studio Tuesday night for <a href="/news/articles/1687835/justin-bieber-live-recap.jhtml">"Bieber Live"</a> was definitely a lesson in what that era was all about.</P><P>"TRL" loaded girls into a room to get them up-close-and-personal with their teen dreams, and "Bieber Live" did that and then some for 100 lucky Beliebers.</P><P></p><div class="player-placeholder right" title="'Bieber Live'" id="id:1687833" width="415" height="255"></div><p></P><P>Deafening screams filled the room from the moment the audience was loaded into the studio. But when Bieber walked in, well, that was a different story. The screams were heightened to (or perhaps surpassed) levels that haven't been heard since the days of Backstreet and Britney. Justin kicked off the show with a performance of <a href="/news/articles/1685945/justin-bieber-die-in-your-arms-single.jhtml">"Die in Your Arms"</a> from his brand-new release, <a href="/news/articles/1687691/justin-bieber-believe-album-details.jhtml"><i>Believe.</i></a> As fans clapped and sang along to the acoustic performance, the excitement in the room was palpable. And things got swagged out to the next level when Bieber dropped the mic at the end of the stripped-down performance, much to the delight of his devotees in the room.</P><P>It was so loud in the room that the audience couldn't even hear Bieber talking during the show. After the first act wrapped up, the 18-year-old got a pep talk from his manager, Scooter Braun, while his faithful fans looked on. But the commercial break wasn't all business: Bieber also gave high-fives to fans and joked around with them as well.</P><P>When the show came back, Bieber turned on the charm once more, even partaking in a friendly game of "2 Truths and a Lie," during which lucky fans got to stand <i>next</i> to him and try and prove their Bieber knowledge. Yes, they got to stand <i>next</i> to him (and MTV News' very own Sway Calloway, which we're sure they were equally enthused by).</P><P>During the next commercial break, Bieber gave more high-fives to everyone before stepping away from the set for a minute and taking a little break. For the next act, the room was silent as the singer talked all about his music. Yesterday, the world got to see a group of idiot 12-15 year-old kids verbally abusing a 69-year-old bus monitor in Greece, N.Y. named Karen Klein.
Like, really badly. To the point that she cried.
The worst comment one kid made? "You are so ugly, your kids should kill themselves." Klein's son apparently did take his own life 10 years ago.
Making the School Bus Monitor Cry
Depressing as it gets. But now, the redeeming part.
According to Mashable, irate users on Reddit, 4chan, YouTube and elsewhere decided to support Klein ... and not by offering bullying services to give the kids a taste of their own medicine (although we'll get to that in a moment).
Not even 24 hours later, more than $9,000 has been raised online to send the harassed Karen on the vacation of a lifetime! How great is that?
Enjoy it, Karen ... and get ready to reap what you sowed, kids.
There's already a Facebook group dedicated to opposing them, and local police are considering stationing officers outside their homes for fear of retribution.

Unofficially, it ended <i>very</i> early Monday morning, across town at venerable rock club the Metro, with a surprise show by Them Crooked Vultures.</P><P>To the unfamiliar, the Vultures might seem like an odd choice to close out Lolla weekend ... until you realize that they're made up of <a href="/music/artist/foo_fighters/artist.jhtml">Foo Fighters</a> frontman/ former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl, <a href="/music/artist/queens_stone_age/artist.jhtml">Queens of the Stone Age</a> mastermind Josh Homme and <a href="/music/artist/led_zeppelin/artist.jhtml">Led Zeppelin</a> legend John Paul Jones. And their gig at the Metro was their world premiere.</P><P>According to <a href="http://blogs.suntimes.com/derogatis/2009/08/them_crooked_vultures_at_metro.html" target="_blank">some reports</a>, the Vultures actually turned <i>down</i> Lollapalooza founder Perry Farrell's request to replace the Beastie Boys as headliners at the festival, opting to debut in front of some 1,100 super-psyched fans at the Metro, rather than 75,000 in Grant Park (tickets for the gig were announced via Foo Fighter/ QOTSA fan clubs). Meaning that, in a lot of ways, this was the most sought-after ticket in town.</P><P>Taking the stage just after midnight, the Vultures — Grohl on drums (of course), Homme on guitar and vocals, Jones on bass and keys and frequent QOTSA contributor Alain Johannes on guitar — ripped through 12 songs in 80 minutes, all taken from their upcoming debut, which may or may not be called <i>Never Deserved the Future,</i> and may or may not be hitting stores on October 23 (early "promo" videos touting both those facts were revealed over the weekend to be hoaxes perpetrated by QOTSA fans).</P><P>The songs, with appropriately Homme-ian titles like "Scumbag Blues," "Mind Eraser (No Chaser)," "Caligulove" and "Interlude w/Ludes," sounded pretty much how you'd expect, given the band's pedigree. They rocked, hard — <a href="http://leisureblogs.chicagotribune.com/turn_it_up/2009/08/concert-review-them-crooked-vultures-at-metro.html" target="_blank"><i>Chicago Tribune</i></a> critic Greg Kot described them as "fresh, invigorating and just plain nasty" — delving off into psychedelic, reverb-filled excursions and exploring proggy territory, "both of the old-school Yes variety, and the more modern Tool flavor," according to the <i>Chicago Sun-Times'</i> Jim DeRogatis.</P><P>It's not known if Monday's Metro performance was a one-off event for the Vultures — there have been whispers of a full-blown tour, but a spokesperson for Homme had not responded to MTV News' request for comment at press time. Meek Mill Denies Bottle Attack, Beef With Chris Brown
Drake's homie Meek Mill says he didn't throw any bottles during the W.i.P. club brawl that got the venue shut down and injured Chris Brown last week.
Meek says Chris didn't throw any either, and denies there is any lingering beef with the R&B singer or his camp. Mill told XXL (dot) com the following:
"Chris and Drake, them two was there, but it's other people that be around that take sh!t to the next level ... Things just happen in the club."
"I seen girls in there throwing bottles, all types of sh!t. All types of people. I never seen Chris Brown or Drake throw a bottle and I was there.”
Asked if he threw a bottle at Brown, Meek replied, "F*%k no."
Mill, who was hanging at Drake's table during the June 13 incident, was rumored to be an instigator in the fight (and to have banged Rihanna).
Meek claims, at least, that he spoke with Chris Brown on the phone after the brawl and both sides agreed they had no problem with the other.
Mill concluded his frank assessment of the melee by saying, "Chris Brown be in clubs. He be around situations like this. Things get out of hand."
"That don’t mean it’s out of hand with me and him or him and Drake.”
Good to know. For his part, Drake spoke about the brawl himself during his concert at Jones Beach on Long Island Saturday night ... kind of.
Police are still investigating. As always we gotta ask ...

DC Comics broke some very progressive ground earlier this month when they announced that hero Alan Scott, the original Green Lantern, is gay. Naturally, the news made international headlines and was met with a myriad of different reactions, from outpourings of support to those of outrage and misunderstanding.When MTV News caught up with "Green Lantern" actress Blake Lively recently as she promoted her latest film, "Savages," we asked for her thoughts on the subject, which was news to her."Cool!" Lively said, expressing her support for DC's monumental decision. "Maybe he'll get a multicolored costume and won't be green anymore," she added with a smile.Lively brings up an excellent point: Not that the new writers or artists would ever completely do away with Lantern's signature green suit, but we can hope that they might add a few pieces of flair."He's going to be the leader of the team, this dynamic hero, he'll do anything to save people, the bravest man on the planet. Why not just make him gay as well?" said new "Lantern" writer James Robinson in an interview with USA Today. "What I really want to do with this character is make the fact that he's gay to be a part of who he is and not to be the one identifying aspect of him ... and have his humor and his bravery be as much or more a part of him as his sexuality."Lively pointed out that Alan Scott is different from Ryan Reynolds' Hal Jordan from the 2011 movie and that the heroes come in all shapes and sizes. "There's lots of Green Lanterns," she said.Robinson said this dynamic reimagining of Scott will eventually cross paths with Jordan, and they'll have very different personalities and abilities. "When they're firing their rings at the same time, you'll be able to tell which energy is which," he said. How about that highly entertaining return to "Dallas" Wednesday night (June 13)? TNT's reboot of the iconic '80s hit struck a chord with viewers, 6,863,000 of them to be exact, which made it the #1 scripted series premiere on all of cable so far this year.Now that we've seen the first extended episode and been properly introduced to the new young castmembers, it's time to throw out a few burning questions we hope to have answered over the course of season one.Whose Side Is Marta On?
Despite the aggressive scheming set up by the male characters on the show, the biggest surprise in the series premiere was in the reveal of the bait-and-switchery by Marta Del Sol (played by Leonor Varela). She's "working" for both sides of the Ewing family, or is she? J.R. told his son that he's known her for years and that she'll be the key to taking Soutfork from brother Bobby, and then we see John Ross and Marta having their own not-at-all-inconspicuous meeting on the 50-yard line of Dallas stadium. So who is Marta really working for? Bobby, J.R. or John Ross? How Soon Will Christopher and Elena Rekindle Their Romance?
Clearly the love still burns between Christopher and Elena. We didn't even need that heated scene re-hashing the abrupt end to their too-recent engagement to know that their flame has yet to be extinguished. So what now? If John Ross is responsible for sending the email that ended their relationship, there are trying times ahead, no matter the fact that Christopher just married his second love, Rebecca. We're predicting to see a kiss between Christopher and Elena by episode three or four. Who's Responsible for the Burglaries?
Over the course of this first extended episode there were two burglaries, one at Christopher's office and another at Bobby's home. Was it John Ross? J.R.? It's certainly easy to blame John Ross, since he is so obviously adept at manipulation and acquiring confidential information. And J.R. has no qualms about robbing his brother, but why make such a big show of it? And if it wasn't the J.R.'s, who did it and how will they use whatever was taken against their targets?How Serious Are J.R. and Bobby's Illnesses?
Come on now, we just got the original Ewing boys back on the air and they both have life-threatening illnesses to deal with? Sure, it's realistic that Bobby and J.R. are dealing with cancer or perhaps other age-related ailments, but we cannot have their lives hanging in the balance of this first season, at least not due to medical reasons. We'll take a good ol' bounty on their heads or something appropriately more dramatic. In the meantime, how long will J.R. and Bobby be dealing with these problems? Is John Ross Inherently Good or Evil?
All signs currently point toward evil, given the fact that John Ross is likely the reason for the end of Christopher and Elena's engagement, along with the burglary at Christopher's office. Not only that, but he wants to wrestle Southfork away from his own flesh and blood and defy the wishes of his beloved grandmother. According to actor Josh Henderson, who plays John Ross, the troublesome young lad is going to be walking a fine line all season."It's funny people keep asking, 'Who's good and who's bad?' " Henderson laughed. "We'll have to see. I follow in my father's footsteps basically, a little bit.
