Alicia Keys is celebrating a career milestone this year. Come June 28, the R&B songstress will release special 10th anniversary deluxe and collector's editions of her critically acclaimed debut album Songs in A Minor with previously unreleased material and a brand-new documentary, chronicling the making of the Grammy Award-winning LP.
"It's incredibly surreal for me to be celebrating the 10th anniversary of Songs in A Minor," Keys said in a statement. "Looking back on the journey, I'm truly moved by my fans and friends who've been with me and have supported me throughout my career. This album is possibly the most precious to me, as your first album only happens once, and so Songs in A Minor will always hold a special place in my life that's filled with amazing memories."
While the deluxe edition of the release will include six bonus tracks, the collector's edition of the set will have 12 bonus tracks from the era, including new songs from the album's recording sessions, alternate versions and live renditions. Among the bonus tracks featured on the releases are: "A Woman's Worth" (remix featuring Nas), "Juiciest" (mixtape version), "Fallin' " ("Ali" soundtrack version), "Butterflyz" (The "Drumline" Mix), "If I Was Your Woman" (Original Funky Demo version) and "Typewriter."
Keys will commemorate the release by performing the entire Songs in A Minor album and telling stories of its recording at the Beacon Theatre in New York on June 30. Tickets for "Piano & I: A One Night Only Event With Alicia Keys" go on sale May 6.
Keys, who welcomed her first child with husband Swizz Beatz last fall, has been logging time in the studio recording material with her longtime producer Kerry "Krucial" Brothers. Last July, Swizz revealed to MTV News that he was also working with his favorite lady on tracks for both their albums.
"Me and AK, we just love music," the producer said. "When we in the studio, we work on a lot of things that ain't planned. We was just in the studio vibing on some stuff for her album, vibing on some stuff for my album. We might use it, we might not use it. Anytime we in the studio, it's just musical genius, minds connecting on another level, which is always cool."
Since dropping her ballad "Speechless," which was inspired by son Egypt, the R&B singer told fans that she's also been moved to write by the natural disasters in Japan. "My heart breaks 4 Japan. woke up this morning early w/ a song in my heart. not sure what but wow! so much going on in the world! #pray4japan," Keys tweeted on March 11.
